‘Bosom Buddies’ consists of three blends:

Suitable for:

  • Full heavy tender breasts
  • Engorgement
  • Mastitis

Mastitis is an infection of the breast that can be extremely painful and can make you feel unwell. It is important that you keep breastfeeding baby during this time and also seek medical advice as you may need antibiotics.

Suitable for:

  • Low milk supply

Suitable for:

  • Sore nipples
  • Painful nipples

All three blends also help with any low mood or anxiety, tension, stress. Most noteworthy these factors also have a part to play in low milk supply and pain.

How to use

  1. Add 2-3 drops of your chosen blend to a bowl of water. Hot water is best used for low milk supply, cold water on sore nipples. Whereas heavy, full tender breasts would benefit from hot water to ease the flow. Or use cold water to ease the discomfort/swelling. So choose what feels right for you at the time.
  2. Submerge a couple of flannels or muslin cloths into the water solution. Squeeze them out and place the wet cloths over both breasts directly onto the skin.
  3. Cover with a dry towel to keep warm and relax for up to 30 minutes. (During this time the cloths can be renewed in the water to maintain their temperature)
  4. Prior to feeding baby clean the breasts with a clean wet cloth to help to remove any lingering scent from the oils.

“Great for a new mum gift”
This product was packaged really well and would be great as a gift for a new breastfeeding mum. I tried all different oils which definitely did what they said especially the soothing one which I enjoyed using while soaking in the bath. Annoyingly you do have to wash these products off before you feed again.

“Innovative product – not just for breast feeding”
The first thing I noticed about Bosom Buddies is just how beautifully it is presented. The whole product is displayed in two stunning boxes, which would certainly allow Bosom Buddies to be given as an appreciated gift to a new mum. The second thing I noticed was how soft the organic cotton face washers are, with one provided for each breast. Given the discomfort which can arise from breast feeding, I certainly appreciated putting something so beautifully soft on the sore areas!
Bosom Buddies comes with three herbal remedies – ‘ohh’ for engorged breasts, ‘aah’ for low milk supply, and ‘ouch’ for sore nipples. I found the scent of each of these to be pleasant and not overwhelming as I felt somewhat nauseous in the first period after birth. I particularly like the peppermint scent of ‘ouch’, and it actually helped to alleviate some of my nausea also!
Bosom Buddies is foolproof, which is useful in the days after birth when coming up with a coherent thought feels far too difficult! Simply soak the face washers in water with a few drops of the remedy which you require at the time. I appreciated that I could soak the face washers in warm or cold water according to the needs of my breasts, which did change over time.

I found the remedies for engorged breasts and for sore nipples helpful. I’m not sure whether it was the herbal aspect of the product, cooling/warming the breasts as needed, or just taking some time out to give myself permission to lie down for a moment while still feeling as though I was ‘doing’ something which was of the most use. I also used ‘ouch’ for sore nipples after using the breast pump, so it should be noted that this product is equally useful for mothers who are expressing milk. While I enjoyed using the ‘aah’ for low milk supply remedy my milk supply hasn’t increased – not that I was expecting it to!

All in all I would recommend this product. It is beautifully presented, made with quality materials, and is very easy to use. It assisted me to alleviate some of the pain associated with breast feeding and expressing which was highly appreciated! Lastly, it reminded me to carve out some ‘me time’ which was sorely needed.

“Very soothing- great present for an expectant/new mum”
When I first got this product I was very impressed with the smell of the oils and how soft the flannels were. The packaging was also very cute. However when I saw the price, I thought it was a bit expensive for what it was…

Having said that, I have had to use the “ahh” for engorgement and the “ouch” for sore nipples and both products have been incredibly soothing and have really helped. I also had Mastitis over the weekend and the combination of the oil on the soft hot flannel really helped.
